South West Forest is committed to providing training in woodland skills and to promoting best practice in woodland management and other rural skills.
Woodland Skills Training
Planting new woodland or improving and managing existing woodland is an exciting challenge, but without the necessary experience and skills it can also be a daunting prospect. Whether you are planning to employ contractors, or carry out some or all of the work yourself, South West Forest is here to guide and support you with friendly and easily accessible training. If you are creating new woodland or improving neglected woodland we have experienced instructors to help.
As a result of funding by EU, DEFRA and ERDP we can offer generous subsidies on all our training for farmers, landowners and land-based workers in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
In response to demand, or suggestions for new topics, we will arrange for additional courses to be added to our schedule. For more information or to suggest courses which may not be on our list email our Training Team at South West Forest or telephone 01409 221896 and ask for Kathy Lewington.
Best Practice Events
To ensure that new and existing woodland in the South West is effectively managed to reach its full potential we have developed a programme of Best Practice events. These one-day events provide an opportunity to learn proven methods of woodland management, have your questions answered by our experts, and share ideas with other members of the group.
For more information, an online diary of courses and to book online visit our training page.
